Baptisms / Christening
Baptisms at All Saints, Denmead
A Baptism (sometimes also known as a Christening) is the way the church marks the beginning of a journey of faith in God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
A Baptism celebrates faith in Jesus Christ and is our response to God’s love.
A Baptism can take place as an infant or child – where Godparents make promises on behalf of the child/ren. Or you may have come to faith as a follower of Christ as a teenager or adult. You are never too old to take this step and being baptised as an adult is a wonderful experience. Either way, we are here to help you find the right option and testify to your faith.
To find out more please contact our Parish Office – you will be invited to the next Baptism Preparation Evening where, joining with others, we’ll consider what it means to be a Christian and explore issues of faith.
Then there will be a special service where you, or your child/ren will be baptized. In the Church of England this may involve water being poured on your head at the font, or for teenagers/adults we have a pool, and you may choose to be be fully immersed in the water. However it happens, it’s a great occasion, full of joy!
