12 December 2025 14:22

Update for Sunday 14th December 2025

See full update HERE

Sunday 14th December – 3rd Sunday of Advent

This week the readings are Isaiah 35: 10-10, James 5: 7-10 and Matthew 11: 2-11

At 8am we gather for a traditional BCP Holy Communion Service Canon David Lindsay will preside and preach.

At 10am we will hold our annual Gift Service in aid of theStop Domestic Abuse, which works with families affected by domestic abuse. This year Stop Domestic Abuse would particularly like help with gifts for mums, e.g. perfume, toiletries, pyjamas, slippers, scarf – anything that will be a real indulgence for a mum to receive just for herself.  Please wrap these gifts, and label for a Mum.

Alternatively, Gift Cards can be given, allowing families to buy exactly what they need.  Ideally, they would like gifts cards for Tesco, Asda, Boots, or Superdrug, to the value of £5 - £10.  They will also happily receive the gifts cards for ONE4ALL.

Please remember, gifts must be brand new, unopened and in pristine condition – nothing second-hand: we want to treat the families as though they were our own – and give them the very best.

Gifts and cards can be dropped off to the Parish Office (open Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri 9am - 1pm) prior to the service, or youcan bring them to church on the dayat 10am.    With thanks. Revd. Emma

At 6pm we gather for Evensong which Revd. Emma will lead and Revd. Buffy preach. All are very welcome.

Monday 15th December – Year 2 Denmead Infants

We will be joined by Year 2 children from Denmead Infants School, who will be singing their Christmas songs. Please do pop along to listen to them at 9.15am.

Friday 19th December 7pm – Carol Service

At 7pm we gather for our annual Carol Service. Join with us for a traditional mix of Carols and Readings followed by refreshments and mince-pies in our church hall.  Do bring a friend, family member or neighbour as we reflect together on God’s salvation story. At this service we will be taking up a collection for the Rowans Hospice.

Sunday 21st December – 4th Sunday of Advent

This week the readings are Isaiah 7: 10-16, Romans 1: 1-7 and Luke 1: 26-38

At 8am we gather for a traditional BCP Holy Communion Service Revd. Emma will preside and Karen Gaskin will preach.

At 10am we gather for a Holy Communion and groups for Kids and Youth at Ten. Revd. Emma will lead and preside, and Karen Gaskin will preach. This service will be live streamed. All are welcome to stay for refreshments served in our church hall after the service.

Lewis Jones – Sick Leave

Lewis remains on sick leave at present.  Please be praying for Lewis, Sophie and family.

Liz Crane

There is a book of memories of Liz being put together for Penny, Daniel and Della.

They would love as many of the church family as possible who knew Liz to write a memory two. This can be sent via Revd Buffy's email or by popping it in an envelope and dropping it into the curate’s pigeonhole in church or to the office.
