Sunday 14th December – 3rd Sunday of Advent

This week the readings are Isaiah 35: 10-10, James 5: 7-10 and Matthew 11: 2-11

At 8am we gather for a traditional BCP Holy Communion Service Canon David Lindsay will preside and preach.

At 10am we will hold our annual Gift Service in aid of theStop Domestic Abuse, which works with families affected by domestic abuse. This year Stop Domestic Abuse would particularly like help with gifts for mums, e.g. perfume, toiletries, pyjamas, slippers, scarf – anything that will be a real indulgence for a mum to receive just for herself.  Please wrap these gifts, and label for a Mum.

Alternatively, Gift Cards can be given, allowing families to buy exactly what they need.  Ideally, they would like gifts cards for Tesco, Asda, Boots, or Superdrug, to the value of £5 - £10.  They will also happily receive the gifts cards for ONE4ALL.

Please remember, gifts must be brand new, unopened and in pristine condition – nothing second-hand: we want to treat the families as though they were our own – and give them the very best.

Gifts and cards can be dropped off to the Parish Office (open Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri 9am - 1pm) prior to the service, or youcan bring them to church on the dayat 10am.    With thanks. Revd. Emma

At 6pm we gather for Evensong which Revd. Emma will lead and Revd. Buffy preach. All are very welcome.

Lewis Jones – Sick Leave

Lewis remains on sick leave at present.  Please be praying for Lewis, Sophie and family.

Monday 8th December - Funeral for the Late Liz Crane

The funeral service will be at All Saints Denmead on Monday 8th December at 1pm and all are welcome to attend. This will be followed by a private cremation. Please pray for Daniel and Penny, and the wider family.

HELP NEEDED

A BIG thank you to all those who have offered help and support with services and events over Christmas.  We still need help with:

 1 - Waterlooville Foodbank – Thursday only

On Thursday 18th (9.30-12noon) we are taking a small team across to the Waterlooville Foodbank, based in Wecock Farm on Kite Close to help pack hampers ready to be distributed across the PO7 and PO8 communities. We will meet in our church car park at 9.15am where we can organise car shares over to the foodbank.  We should be back around 12.30pm’ish.   If you can help on this date, please let Karen Rose know.

2 - Friday 19th December 7pm - Carol Service Refreshments.

We need 2-3 people to help the refreshments team with washing up after the Carol service.  Please let Karen Rose know if you can help.

3 – Mince Pies

We need donations of mince pies to service at various Christmas events.  If you can donate a box or two (or more!) please bring to the office or leave in the servery.

4-  Mini Choir for Christmas singing at local Care Homes

We are looking for two or three extra tuneful voices to help sing Christmas Carols at our local care/residential homes.  We need help on:

  • Monday 22nd December 11am at Copper Beeches PO7 6YQ
  • Monday 22nd December 2.30pm at Wellington Vale PO7 7TY
  • Tuesday 23rd December 3pm at Denmead Grange PO7 6XP

If you can help at one, two or all three, please let Karen Rose know.

Wednesday 24th December – Crib Services 3 and 5pm

What does a golden bag, a tea towel and some tinsel have in common….?!

They are all you need to join in with our crib services this year!!

We would love you to come dressed as a character from the nativity story for our crib services.  If you need help with a costume, please, please ask as we have lots of wonderful costumes just hoping to be used this year!          Revd. Buffy, Mags, and Tina

The latest Diocesan newsletter is now with us – please pick up a copy from our leaflet stand.
