 Saturday 24th January 8.30am – Men’s Group Breakfast

Our New Year-ish Men's Breakfast is in the church hall on 24th January when we get together over bacon butties, croissants and more. We look forward to as many as possible catching up and exchanging news together.  If you haven't come for a while, we'd love to see you. New guests are also very welcome!

We hope to have a programme for the year ready to bring you up to date.

For catering purposes please let John 07906 370369  byrne.jv@gmail.com  know by Wednesday 21st January if you would like to come.  John, Paul & Don

Wednesday 28th January 2-4pm - Encompass

During this month’s meeting we look forward to hearing from Revd. Anne Lindsay.  (You may remember this session was postponed from October due to illness).   Anne will be drawing on her experience in hospital chaplaincy to talk to us about ‘listening skills’.  There is no greater gift we can give someone than taking the time to sit down and really listen to them, when they need someone to talk to.  In older age we do have more time and a lot of understanding to offer others.  So, it will be useful to spend time hearing how we can improve our listening skills and sharing some of our experience in that area.  We begin at 2.00pm as normal and finish with a fun New Year quiz and a delicious home-made tea.

February 3rd – 6th Heath Room Redecoration

Our Heath Room is a significant asset to our church life and is used extensively throughout the year. The decor however is now looking at little tired, and we have a window of opportunity to decorate the room.

We have the room from 13:00 on Tuesday the 3rd of February through to 16:00 on Friday the 6th of February. A total of three and a half days.

I therefore would like a small team of volunteers, ideally 4 or 5 people each day, who can help cover the work. It does not have to be the same people all the time so we can cover when you're available. Although, if you can commit to the whole time, we would be very grateful.  If you can offer some of your time over the available dates, please contact me directly with your availability so I can fully plan the work.

You should either email me on r.handy@ntlworld.com or message to 07545 617740 or  let me know when you next see me in church.             Richard Handy

Home Groups

Do you find that you don’t have time or space at church on Sunday to get to know other Christians better and to have deeper conversations about worship, faith and the bible? Would you welcome the opportunity to meet with a small number of church members of mixed experience on a regular basis, outside church in a safe, relaxed, friendly, encouraging, caring, and supportive situation?

Why not give a Home Group a try? You don’t need to commit yourself at first; give it a few weeks and see it suits you.

Home Groups offer a loving, confidential environment where Christians can share experiences, values and ideas about discipleship and spirituality, and can learn more about Jesus and develop their faith together, relating what they experience in church on Sunday to everyday life and the wider community.

Home Group meetings usually include periods of bible study, prayer, and discussions, with refreshments, about what it means in practice to each of us to be a Christian, as well as offering opportunities for meals and social activities together from time to time.

We have space in some of our Home Groups at present and, in particular, our small Thursday evening group of men and women, led by our Licensed Lay Minister (Reader), Peter Mitchell, which meets every 2 or 3 weeks, would welcome 2 or 3 new members. If you are interested to find out more, please contact Peter at peter.mitchell@allsaintsdenmead.org.uk or call him on 07504 172968.
