Romans: A letter that makes sense of life.
Last week we began a new series studying the book of Romans at both our 8am and 10am Sunday services.
There will be 11 weeks covering:
- ROMANS: Introduction – setting the scene.
- GOSPEL: How can we become confident in our faith?
- SIN: What’s wrong with the world?
- SALVATION: What’s so amazing about grace?
- PEACE: How can we find rest in a stressful world?
- FREEDOM: How can we avoid negative cycles?
- HOPE: What has God promised?
- MYSTERY: If God is sovereign, what is our role?
- DEVOTION: How can we live full on for God?
- COMMUNITY: How can we live together in love?
- MISSION: How can we be ambitious with the gospel?
We’re going to use as our framework material from The Romans Course by the Bible Society written by Andrew Ollerton (the chap who also wrote The Bible course).
Romans, Paul’s longest letter is complicated however it unlocks the whole story of Scripture and helps us make sense of life. Studying Romans will equip and strengthen us as disciples today.
You may find it helpful to read Andrew Ollerton’s book on Romans. (This can be ordered online at a retailer such as Amazon or Eden) We will also be sharing a couple of great videos on our website which give an animated overview of Romans. These are just a few minutes long, so well worth watching.
We have a few copies available to purchase on the table in the welcome area of church, £14 each, please place the money in the envelope provided in the wall safe behind the font.
Saturday 12th July 8.30am - Men's Breakfast
Just to remind you that our next Breakfast is in the Church Hall when we get together over bacon butties, croissants and more. After breakfast Peter Dickinson will be sharing some thoughts on The Joy of Words and doubtless willing to hear a few of your own!
For catering purposes please let Don Tocher don@donline.co.uk know by Tuesday 8th July if you would like to come. Earlier than usual shopping in view this time! Hoping for a good get-together to which you are welcome to bring friends. Don, John, Paul

Registration is open!! Forms available from church, the office or on the website.
🙏 Pray for Holiday Club – and Get Involved!
Preparations for Holiday Club 2025 are full steam ahead – and we’d love the whole church family to be part of it.
At the heart of all we do is prayer. Our Holiday Club Prayer Diary is now available – a simple trifold sheet with daily prayer points and themes to help guide your prayers throughout the week of Holiday Club.
Please pick one up from the back of church and stand with us in prayer for the children, families, leaders, and all that God is doing.
"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." — Matthew 18:20
We are also asking you to save a few key dates:
- Monday 4th August (9am-1:30pm) - Help Set-Up
- Sunday 10th August (After Church) - Help take it all down
Even a short time helping makes a real difference and is always appreciated!
If you feel able to lend a hand — even for just one hour— or would like to know more, please speak to:
Lewis Jones, Lesley Handy, Peter Markham, or Mags Waters or email holidayclub@allsaintsdenmead.org.uk
