Romans: A letter that makes sense of life.

Beginning on Sunday 22nd June – and following through the summer months we’re going to explore and study the book of Romans at both our 8am and 10am Sunday services.

There will be 11 weeks covering:

  • ROMANS: Introduction – setting the scene.
  • GOSPEL: How can we become confident in our faith?
  • SIN: What’s wrong with the world?
  • SALVATION: What’s so amazing about grace?
  • PEACE: How can we find rest in a stressful world?
  • FREEDOM: How can we avoid negative cycles?
  • HOPE: What has God promised?
  • MYSTERY: If God is sovereign, what is our role?
  • DEVOTION: How can we live full on for God?
  • COMMUNITY: How can we live together in love?
  • MISSION: How can we be ambitious with the gospel?

We’re going to use as our framework material from The Romans Course by the Bible Society written by Andrew Ollerton (the chap who also wrote The Bible course).

Romans, Paul’s longest letter is complicated however it unlocks the whole story of Scripture and helps us make sense of life.  Studying Romans will equip and strengthen us as disciples today.

You may find it helpful to read Andrew Ollerton’s book on Romans.   (This can be ordered online at a retailer such as Amazon or Eden) We will also be sharing a couple of great videos on our website which give an animated overview of Romans.  These are just a few minutes long, so well worth watching.

 Saturday 28th June - Men’s Group

Our next event is a street art walk in Southsea on Saturday 28th June.  We will meet in the Church car park at 9.30am to share lifts to Southsea.  Here we will view 14 pieces of street art and hear about the inspiration for each piece and their sometimes-hidden messaging.  The route will involve a leisurely 3 mile walk on flat terrain, entirely suitable for anyone with limited mobility, with a coffee break at own expense.  We should be back at Church by 1.30pm. Portsmouth was recently voted the street art capital of the UK with over 100 pieces now gracing the streets of the city.
For practical reasons numbers will need to be limited so please confirm your attendance to Paul Over asap on paulover@btinternet.com or 07775706082.  This event is also open to partners.  There is no charge for this event.       Don, John & Paul

August 5th – August 8th Holiday Club

🙏 Pray for Holiday Club – and Get Involved!

Preparations for Holiday Club 2025 are full steam ahead – and we’d love the whole church family to be part of it.

At the heart of all we do is prayer. Our Holiday Club Prayer Diary is now available – a simple trifold sheet with daily prayer points and themes to help guide your prayers throughout the week of Holiday Club.

Please pick one up from the back of church and stand with us in prayer for the children, families, leaders, and all that God is doing.

"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." — Matthew 18:20

We are also asking you to save a few key dates:

  • Monday 4th August (9am-1:30pm) - Help Set-Up
  • Sunday 10th August (After Church) - Help take it all down

Even a short time helping makes a real difference and is always appreciated!

If you feel able to lend a hand — even for just one hour— or would like to know more, please speak to:

Lewis Jones, Lesley Handy, Peter Markham, or Mags Waters or email holidayclub@allsaintsdenmead.org.uk

Let’s do this together.

Thank you for being part of Holiday Club this year — your prayers and support help bring it all to life.
