Thy Kingdom Come 29th May - 8th June

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. It began in 2016, and over the last 10 years has grown into a huge movement which unites more than a million Christians in prayer. Thy Kingdom Come begins on Thursday 29th May (Ascension Day) until Sunday 8th June (Pentecost).

Once again, this year Thy Kingdom Come urges us to pray for five people; family, friends, neighbours, colleagues – that each person will encounter Jesus in their life and respond ‘yes’ to God’s call.  During TKC you might like to join us for Morning Prayer (each weekday at 8.30am in our chapel) we’ll be using TKC liturgy that enables us to cry out, ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ and space to name our five people.

Then this year, Portsmouth Diocese is encouraging each deanery to host a day of prayer and pilgrimage.   Denmead is part of Havant Deanery, and our prayer walk will be on Wednesday 4th June:  it will begin at 9am at St Peter’s Church on Hayling Island, and finish at All Saints, Catherington at 5pmIn the evening, we will gather at All Saints, Denmead for an Evening Prayer Celebration at 7pm.  For more information pick up a full route guide from church.

And finally, there is also a focus on The Lord’s Prayer. The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples, when they asked him how they should pray. This final line is a reminder that God’s Kingdom, power, and glory remain steadfast. Hardships will come and go, but God’s unfailing love remains the same yesterday, today, and always.

Revd. Buffy – Sick Leave

After lots of waiting Revd. Buffy is due surgery to her damaged ankle at the end of May.  This means she will be off work for at least six weeks for rest and recovery.  We hope to welcome her back early July.  So please do not contact her during this time – any queries can come to Revd. Emma or the parish church office.  Many thanks.

25th May – 30th May Lewis Jones

Lewis will be on annual leave this week.

Monday 26th May and Tuesday 27th May – Office Closed

The office will be closed for the bank holiday and Karen Rose will be taking annual leave on the Tuesday. The office will be closed as usual on Wednesday.

 Wednesday 28th May 2pm – Encompass

This month we are looking forward to a visit from a local Podiatrist, Jess Sullings who will talk to us about caring for our feet in older age. This is a topic of interest to many of us, and we are only too aware of the importance of keeping our feet in tip top condition to retain our mobility. We will enjoy our usual delicious home-made tea and quiz. Everyone is very welcome to come along and join us.

June 25th Encompass – Save the date. We are planning to enjoy our usual annual cream tea with cake in June. Outside in the garden, if the weather is kind, or in the hall in the event of rain. Entertainment will be provided by the tenor Simon Long, DipMusT, and members of his choir to entertain us. To fund a larger than usual tea and donate to the choir we are charging £10.00 per person. Please give your name and money to Jeanette on 28th May or contact me after that date on 07877 138043, preferably by 18th June, to aid us in catering numbers.  Thank you.

Jeanette Power - Encompass Leader

Thursday 29th May – Blood Transfusion Service

Please note that the Blood Transfusion service will be using the hall and Heath room all day, so the car park will be busy.

 Saturday 31st May 8.30am - Men's Breakfast

Just to remind you that our next Breakfast is in the Heath Room (off the church hall) when we get together over bacon butties, croissants and more.  This is a 'special' when we look forward to seeing about six Vintage and Classic Cars brought (weather and mechanics permitting!) by their owners to the church car park and who will be delighted to show and talk about them.

For catering purposes please let Paul Over paulover@btinternet.com 07775 706082 know by Wednesday 28th May if you would like to come.

We're hoping for a fine and fun get-together.    Paul, Don and John

August 5th – August 8th Holiday Club

Pray for Holiday Club

Preparations for this year’s Holiday Club are well underway, and we’d love you to be part of it.

Our Prayer Diary is now available — a simple trifold sheet with daily prayer points and themes to help guide your prayers throughout the week of Holiday Club. Please do pick one up at the back of church and join us in praying for the children, families, leaders, and all that God will do.

Jesus said, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20). Let’s stand together in prayer, trusting that God will be at work in powerful ways.

We are still looking for a few more helpers to join the team — whether it’s for a day or the whole week, we’d love to have you involved.

To find out more, or to let us know you’d like to help, please speak to Lewis Jones, Lesley Handy, Peter Markham, Mags Waters, or email holidayclub@allsaintsdenmead.org.uk.

Christian Aid Café and The Children’s Society fundraising

We have received the total amount raised through the Christian Aid envelopes and The Children’s Society boxes.

So they are: (drum roll please!)

Christian Aid – £2,009.51

The Children’s Society - £778.92

A HUGE thank you to everyone who made cakes, served refreshments, ate the cakes, counted the money, tidied up at the end, and of course, a MASSIVE thank you to all those who supported both these worthwhile causes by donating so generously.
