Update for Sunday 13th April 2025
Sunday 13th April - 6th Sunday of Lent – Palm Sunday
This Sunday the readings are Psalm 104: 14-22 (pages 157-160 in The Whole Easter Story) Deuteronomy 22: 6-7 (pages 168-170 in The Whole Easter Story) and Luke 19: 28-40 (Palm Sunday Story)
At 8am we gather for a traditional BCP Holy Communion Service. Canon David Lindsay will preside and preach.
At 10am we gather for our Together service. This service is for all ages as we worship, learn, and grow together. The service will be led by Revd. Emma, Peter Mitchell, our Licensed Minister (Reader) and team. Please stay after the service for refreshments served and games the church hall.
At 6pm we gather for Evensong which Canon David Lindsay will lead and preach. All are very welcome.
Thursday 17th April 7pm - Maunday Thursday
The readings will be Matthew 6: 25-30 (pages 161-163 in The Whole Easter Story) and John 13: 1-17, 31-35 (Maunday Thursday Reading).
This will be a traditional Foot washing and Communion service. Revd. Buffy will lead, Revd Emma will preside and Peter Mitchell, our Licensed Minister (Reader) will preach.
Sunday 20th April – Easter Sunday
This week the readings are Isaiah 11: 6-9 (pages 175-178 in The Whole Easter Story), Revelation 5: 11-13 (pages 179-182 in The Whole Easter Story) and John 20: 1-18 (Easter Reading)
At 8am we gather for a traditional BCP Holy Communion Service Revd. Buffy will preside and Revd. Emma will preach.
At 10am we gather for a Holy Communion and Prayer Ministry with groups for Kids and Youth at Ten. Revd. Buffy will lead and preside, and Revd. Emma preach. This service will be live streamed. All are welcome to stay for refreshments served in our church hall after.
April 14th – 18th Holy Week Morning Prayer
During this week Morning Prayer will be at the slightly later time of 9am – 9.30am.
Tuesday 15th April 2pm - Mothers' Union
Mothers Union meet in the Heath room starting at 2pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome!
Friday 18th April and Monday 21st April Office Closed
The office will be closed for the bank holidays.
Monday 21st April – Friday 25th April Annual Leave
Revd. Emma and Revd. Buffy will both be on annual leave during this time. Please contact the office for routine matters or the church wardens in an emergency.
Monday 28th April 1.30pm - Funeral for the Late Brenda Wright
The funeral for Brenda Wright is here at All Saints at 1.30pm and all are welcome to attend. Donations to Cancer Research UK and memories or tributes may be made through the following link, https://brendamargaretwright.muchloved.com/
Sunday 11th May at 11.30am AGM and APCM
All Saints Church will hold its AGM (Annual General Meeting) and APCM (Annual Parochial Church Meeting) on Sunday 11th May at 11.30am in church, followed by a Picnic. Everyone is welcome to this meeting, and it is hoped that you will come and contribute to the life of All Saints or just learn more about what goes on and stay for lunch and chat afterwards. Copies of the Annual Report For 2024 are available to pick up in church.
Sunday 18th May 11am – Christian Aid Café and The Children’s Society Box Opening
We will be hosting the Christian Aid Café on Sunday 18th May in the Church Hall from 11am to 1pm (after the morning service). Please come along and support this worthy cause. Christian Aid envelopes will be in the church nearer the time. We will also be opening The Children Society boxes. If you are unable to bring your box at this time, please let Claire Thompson or Jane Dickinson know (craig-claire@gmx.com) and we can make alternative arrangements. Thank you Claire Thompson
August 5th – August 8th Holiday Club
Registration is open, if your child/ren or families you know with children would like to sign-up, please fill out a registration form and post it in the church post-box or hand it into the office during office hours. (Please note this if for children living in the parish) Registrations forms can be found at the back of church or on our website.
We also need one or two people to help with Refreshments each day. This involves making up trays of squash/water and fruit/biscuits for the children and tea/coffee for the adults. Please speak to Lewis if you can help with this task or email holidayclub@allsaintsdenmead.org.uk
A Big Thank You From Emmie
Emmie completed her one mile run on Saturday 5th in less than 15 minutes! She has raised an amazing amount for the RNID (a charity for those deaf or with hearing loss). Emmie wanted to say a really big THANK YOU to everyone who sponsored her.
Easter Services
Monday 14th – Monday 21st April
Walkthrough Easter 10-4pm, plus Mon 14th, Tues 15th and Weds 16th 6-8pm –
suitable for all ages. Walkthrough Easter with interactive displays and reflections.
Thursday 17th April – Maundy Thursday
11am Chrism Service at Portsmouth Cathedral. We join with friends from across the Diocese. Bishop Jonathan will bless the holy oils and Clergy renew their Ordination vows.
7.00pm Foot Washing and Communion Service. We remember the Last Supper Jesus shared with His disciples and reflect on His command to love one another.
Friday 18th April – Good Friday
10am Walk of Witness. We gather at All Saints at 10am for a short walk of witness around our village.
12noon Lent Lunch in our Church Hall. We will be holding a Lent Soup Lunch on Good Friday from 12noon in the church hall which will include soup, bread and cheese followed by tea/coffee and a hot cross bun! Suggested donation of £5 per lunch (or £10 for a family) which will be given to DEC Middle East Humanitarian Appeal
Sunday 20th April – Easter Sunday
5.30am Dawn Service at Denmead Village Green. We gather to welcome in the greatest day in history and proclaim Alleluia – Christ is risen!
We then return to All Saints church hall for hot drinks, bacon butties and pastries.
8.00am Holy Communion (traditional BCP Communion Service) with singing.
10.00am Holy Communion with Kids and Youth at Ten. We rejoice, shout, sing, and celebrate that Jesus is alive!
