Mission Partner – IDWAL
On Sunday 23rd January Nicola and I will be updating us all on our visit to Ghana last October. This will be a celebration of our 20-year link with St Paul’s, Tafo.
In Ghana a celebration involves wearing white clothing, so if you have anything white (even a scarf) please wear it, or you could wear Ghanaian clothing if you have any (there will be outfits at the back of church on 16th January which you can borrow). Please also bring a white handkerchief. Any cash you might like to donate for Tafo will be gratefully received but above all, be prepared to sing, dance, and celebrate. To everyone, Akwaaba!
On Tuesday 18th January at 2.00pm the Mothers’ Union will meet in the Heath Room for their AGM. All are welcome to attend.
Our next meeting will take place on Thursday 20th January at 7.30pm. Please pray for the team as we think about spiritual, financial and practical ministry here in this parish.
On Thursday 20th January at 10.30am we will hold the funeral of the Late Dr Peter McErlean.
On Tuesday 25th January at 1.00pm we will hold the funeral of the Late Mr Joseph Nicol.
Bereavement Support Group
The group will meet on Wednesday 26th January at 2-4pm. At this session we will be thinking about the New Year.
Moving into a New Year can be a challenge when we are grieving the death of someone we love, especially when this may be the first New Year since our bereavement. How can we think about what we would like to achieve ourselves in the New Year, whilst still holding on to the precious memories of the past? How can we make positive plans for a future that no longer contains someone who was such a vital part of our lives, without feeling that we are somehow denying our loss?
There will be a short talk and discussion identifying what helps to bring comfort and enjoyment to us. How we make sure we build those activities into our everyday lives. What things do we find especially difficult, and is there anything that we are avoiding doing, which we wish we could still do? How are we coping with long term plans for the year; are there any major decisions that we need to make but can’t face?
This will be followed by a quiz, tea, coffee and cake and a chance to chat and share together. All are most welcome to come along.

Wedding Preparation Day
On Sunday 30th January it will be our great joy to welcome ten couples who intend to be married at All Saints this year. Several of the couples will be arriving for our 10.00 am service, with more joining at 11.00. We will be sharing a glass of bubbly/ Shloer with some donuts at the back of church; so please do stay and chat for a little bit before going home. The couples will then be staying for two sessions focussing on the importance of marriage and looking at practical arrangements for their services as well as sharing lunch together. Please be praying for them as they plan their special day with us.
I will also be marking five years of service here in this parish, thankful to God for all that has been and looking ahead with hope and anticipation of what the next five years will bring!
Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II
Just a reminder to all our knitting and crocheting friends that we are continuing with the red, white and blue knitted flower bunting project ready for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Thank you for all the donations so far and please keep them coming!
Covid Restrictions for Public Worship – IMPORTANT
Just a reminder that in line with national policy we do require all people over the age of 11 (unless medically exempt) to wear facemasks throughout our buildings, which includes our Church, Hall, and Heath Room. This includes wearing a face mask during all services in church. We will also be cancelling our provision of refreshments after church services for the foreseeable future.
We continue to ask for hand sanitising on arrival, and we will keep the building well ventilated, with doors and windows opened – so please do wrap up warmly during these cold winter days.
