Update – Sunday 10th May 2020
Sunday 10th May 2020 - Update from Revd Emma
This last week seems to have gone by very quickly. It is strange to think we have been in lock-down for over six weeks now. It seems likely restrictions will be lifted slightly this weekend, but I am certain for now the church building and all our groups, activities and services will remain suspended for some time.
Meanwhile it is crucial that in these coming weeks we remain at home where possible, and make sure that in all we do we maintain social distancing, sensible precautions, and exemplary hygiene. This crisis is not going to suddenly disappear, and so we must continue to act with great care and responsibility for our neighbours, friends and family. Please be praying, continually for God’s mercy, hope and healing.
VE Day 75 - 8th May 2020
This Friday the nation marked 75 years since VE Day which brought peace to Europe at the end of the Second World War. Many of the planned celebrations and commemorations have been curtailed by the present Pandemic, however, a very small number joined at a suitable distance to lower the village flag, to hold two minutes silence, to lay wreaths, and share in some short prayers. Here are some photos of this significant occasion.
Christian Aid week 10-16th May 2020
This week is the Christian Aid week. In previous years we have delivered envelopes through every door in the village and asked people to donate. This of course is not possible this year so instead please can I ask you to visit our website’s homepage. This will give you information, and a direct link to support the work of Christian Aid financially. I would really urge you to do this, if you can; your money
will resource Christian Aid as they seek to help developing communities as they face Covid-19.
Finally, please be assured of my continued prayers during this turbulent time. At any point if you would like to be in touch, for a chat or a prayer, or if you have questions, I may be able to answer, do ring the Vicarage on 023 9226 2647. I remain at home much of the time, although I am now conducting an increased number of funerals at this difficult time, so if I do not answer immediately, please leave a message and I will return your call.
With every blessing,
Revd Emma Racklyeft
