Weekly Update – 11th June 2021

11 June 2021 20:41

from Revd Emma.

Dear Friends,

It is good to be back with you after a few days off over Half Term and to be able to see the sun shining as we enter the early days of summer.

This Week’s Sunday Worship – 13th June

Last Sunday we began a series studying some of the Parables that Jesus told during his ministry, looking at the story of the man who built his house upon the rock.  This Sunday 13th June we will look at Mark 4: 26-34, The Parable of the Mustard Seed.  We will have activity packs for children aged 2-11 in church and will be running Youth Explorers for those aged 11-18 at our 10am service.  The service will be followed by games and activities in the garden and a Bring your own Picnic.  In the evening we will hold a Prayer and Praise Service out in the garden at 7pm.  All are most welcome to come.

Next Week’s Sunday Worship – 20th June

We will continue with the Parable of the Prodigal, Luke 15: 11-32, and will also celebrate Fathers’ Day. PLEASE NOTE THE EVENING SERVICE AT 7PM IN THE GARDEN HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Christian Aid Week 10th 16th May 2021

Thanks to the continued support of our dedicated team of people who deliver the envelopes, and with such bighearted giving by the people of Denmead, £3,100 was raised this year.  Such donations enable Christian Aid to continue working towards helping those in greatest need, so thank you to all for your great generosity.

All Saints Mission Team.

The Church Office will be closed next week Monday 14th to Friday 18th June.  For all urgent matters please contact myself by email or phone.

Family Picnic Celebration

We are looking for volunteers to come and help with a special Welcome Back Picnic Celebration that we're planning for our Messy Church, Little Stars, and Baptism families as well as those we have connected with through the work of Jesus, Light Up Denmead. The picnic celebration will be on Saturday 17th July at 3.30 to 5.00ish pm.

In order to plan this event, we will be meeting on Tuesday 29th June at 7:30pm in the Church Hall.  If you would like to be involved in any way, please come to the meeting and/or speak to Lewis or Revd Emma.

Bereavement Support Group

For many years, All Saints has run a Bereavement Support Group providing support, friendship, and a listening ear for those who are grieving in our local area.  We are hoping to re-start the group in July for those who were attending prior to lockdown and for any new members who may have been more recently bereaved.

Over the last year we have seen many distressing sights and our hearts have gone out to all those who have been bereaved during the Covid pandemic.  Inability to visit the sick and dying, the difficulties in attending funerals and the impossibility of caring for bereaved family members have all contributed to the pain and distress felt by those who have lost someone they loved.  Bereavement is always a lonely and isolating experience; how much more has that been the case in this last year?

If you would like to find out more about grief and loss and ministering to the bereaved and are interested in joining the team that runs the Bereavement Support Group, we are offering an introductory/refresher session on Wednesday 30th June  in the Church from 10.00 to 12.00.  To help us to manage numbers, please let the Church Office know if you would like to attend.    Many thanks, Revd Emma, Jeanette Power and the team.

Having carefully considered the logistics and the health and safety of children and helpers alike, the DABS committee have sadly decided that DABS will not be going ahead this year.

We do, however, fully intend to hold the 40th DABS next year, with lots of celebrations and special events taking place during the week.  We really hope to see you all there, helping us to celebrate the wonderful achievement of holding a Holiday Club for 40 years.

Have a good summer,   The DABS Committee.

The role involves attending PCC meetings which take place every other month and last about two hours, liaising with Revd Emma in preparing the agenda, publicising the meeting via email to PCC members, taking minutes at the meeting and distributing them after for approval by Emma. In addition, there is a requirement to prepare the notices and agenda for the AGM & APCM and take the minutes at the meeting. That’s it! Please let Revd Emma know if you are interested in this role, and she will be very happy to meet with you for further discussion. Thank you.

Denmead Parish Chronicle Magazine – a message from Steve Venn

As most of you probably know, it has been over a year since we published the Parish Chronicle. We know it used to be enjoyed by many and we have had numerous discussions about restarting it – but much has changed over the last year and it now looks unlikely to resume in the same form. Whatever form it may take, it is going to need a team able and interested in taking it forward. If you would like to be involved in some way, we would be interested in hearing from you. Please email:

Many thanks, Steve.

Well, that is all the news this week, take care and God bless you all,
