Romans: A letter that makes sense of life.

Beginning on Sunday 22nd June – and following through the summer months we’re going to explore and study the book of Romans at both our 8am and 10am Sunday services.

There will be 11 weeks covering:

  • ROMANS: Introduction – setting the scene.
  • GOSPEL: How can we become confident in our faith?
  • SIN: What’s wrong with the world?
  • SALVATION: What’s so amazing about grace?
  • PEACE: How can we find rest in a stressful world?
  • FREEDOM: How can we avoid negative cycles?
  • HOPE: What has God promised?
  • MYSTERY: If God is sovereign, what is our role?
  • DEVOTION: How can we live full on for God?
  • COMMUNITY: How can we live together in love?
  • MISSION: How can we be ambitious with the gospel?

We’re going to use as our framework material from The Romans Course by the Bible Society written by Andrew Ollerton (the chap who also wrote The Bible course).

Romans, Paul’s longest letter is complicated however it unlocks the whole story of Scripture and helps us make sense of life.  Studying Romans will equip and strengthen us as disciples today.

You may find it helpful to read Andrew Ollerton’s book on Romans.   (This can be ordered online at a retailer such as Amazon or Eden) We will also be sharing a couple of great videos on our website which give an animated overview of Romans.  These are just a few minutes long, so well worth watching.

Wednesday 25th June – Save the date!

June 25th Encompass – Save the date. We plan to enjoy our usual annual cream tea with cake in June. Outside in the garden, if the weather is kind, or in the hall in the event of rain. Entertainment will be provided by the tenor Simon Long, DipMusT, and members of his choir to entertain us. To fund a larger than usual tea and donate to the choir we are charging £10.00 per person. Please give your name and money to Jeanette on 28th May or contact me after that date on 07877 138043, preferably by 18th June, to aid us in catering numbers.  Thank you.   Jeanette Power - Encompass Leader

 Saturday 28th June - Men’s Group

Our next event is a street art walk in Southsea on Saturday 28th June.  We will meet in the Church car park at 9.30am to share lifts to Southsea.  Here we will view 14 pieces of street art and hear about the inspiration for each piece and their sometimes-hidden messaging.  The route will involve a leisurely 3 mile walk on flat terrain, entirely suitable for anyone with limited mobility, with a coffee break at own expense.  We should be back at Church by 1.30pm. Portsmouth was recently voted the street art capital of the UK with over 100 pieces now gracing the streets of the city.
For practical reasons numbers will need to be limited so please confirm your attendance to Paul Over asap on paulover@btinternet.com or 07775706082.  This event is also open to partners.  There is no charge for this event.       Don, John & Paul

August 5th – August 8th Holiday Club

Pray for Holiday Club

Preparations for this year’s Holiday Club are well underway, and we’d love you to be part of it.

Our Prayer Diary is now available — a simple trifold sheet with daily prayer points and themes to help guide your prayers throughout the week of Holiday Club. Please do pick one up at the back of church and join us in praying for the children, families, leaders, and all that God will do.

Jesus said, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20). Let’s stand together in prayer, trusting that God will be at work in powerful ways.

We are still looking for a few more helpers to join the team — whether it’s for a day or the whole week, we’d love to have you involved.

To find out more, or to let us know you’d like to help, please speak to Lewis Jones, Lesley Handy, Peter Markham, Mags Waters, or email holidayclub@allsaintsdenmead.org.uk

Cleaner required

The PCC are looking to recruit a new church cleaner to cover duties in the church hall and church starting on 1st September 2025.  This role is 10 hours a week at £12.50 per hour.  Regular working times are Mon – Fri 7am-9am but with some flexibility.

For more information, please contact Karen in the Parish Office for a Job Description.  We will shortlist and interview in late July/early August.  Full handover will be given.

Thy Kingdom Come

Thanks to all for supporting Havant Deanery’s prayer walk on Wednesday. During the day people came and went. We started with 44, peaked at 57, ended with 32. In the evening we welcomed 80…so more than 200 were present at some point, with many more praying from afar. Thanks to all who planned, prepared, walked, prayed, hosted and supported with refreshments. In the days and weeks ahead I urge you to keep praying for God’s kingdom to come, in our parish, schools, churches, homes and in the lives of those we love and know.
